I'm afraid that the photo of the three young women is not Jane Ann, Sarah and Isabella. I, probably along with a number of other Snowball researchers, was sent that photo by Beth Redford in Oklahoma, who is the great grand daughter of Mary Alderson nee Snowball. Beth's grandmother, Sarah Alderson left a number of photos and letters concerning the Snowballs, and this photo was entitled "Sarah and her sisters". I assumed that it was Sarah Snowball in the UK but eventually checked with Beth and was told that it was, if I remember correctly, Sarah Alderson and her sisters.

The two photos of Isabella and Jane Ann Snowball, are, to the best of my knowledge, correct. The one of Jane Ann was sent to me by Beth Redford, and the one of Isabella came, I think, from my dad's cousin in Shildon.

Dear Tim,
I have been asked to help someone find out about his grandfather, William REYNOLDS (born in Scotland, about 1887).
All I've been given is that he was a sailor (as there was a uniform - kept by family, or talked of perhaps.), and that he worked/served on the ship/boat "Mars". The "Dardanelles" was also mentioned.
I have ascertained that "Mars" was used in the Dardanelles.
I see your amazing search about Charles SUNTER, and wonder if you know where I could find a crew list etc. to prove if William REYNOLDS was onboard.
Any other hints/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have been looking at Ancestry at the medals, and looking on Nat. Archives site, but it seems like a needle in a haystack...it may be I'm not using the correct search terms...
Looking forward to your reply,
best wishes,
Triesha Snooks.

Hi Tim

I am also a descendent of Thomas and Elizabeth Sunter, through their son Thomas, his son Joseph (and first wife Mary), and his son John who moved to Manchester from Feetham, nr Reeth c1840 to become a draper. John's son Robert Calvert was my grandfather Ernest's grandfather. My father was Frederick, d. 1982.

I have just traced the earliest two generationsof the tree back to Thomas and Elizabeth with the help of Martin J Budd's famiy tree shown on Ancestry.com, the Slade/Whale family tree also on Ancestry.com, as well as cross checking records through Ancestry.com, FindMyPast, FreeBMD etc.

It is amazing how all the Swaledale Sunters originate from Thomas and Elizabeth - the number of Sunter families in that area on the census returns is astonishing - obviously hardy folk!

Best wishes

My mother in law lived at beehive farm in her childhood. Her father had bought the farm some years earlier. The family name was Bennett and they owned the farm and land until it was sold and the houses built to form Beehive. Close. I,ve been trying to get photos of the farm for sometime but only have one or two taken from distance. They lived at the farm from around the 1920's until the land was sold for development of Beehive close. Any information on the farm or area from those times gratefully received.
